What can Claude or ChatGPT do with your links?

Once connected, your assistant operates your GetMySocial account directly: it lists and searches links, creates and updates them, enables and disables them, organizes groups, and reads your analytics, from account overviews and time series to per-link metrics, top countries, top referrers and recent visitors.

That turns tedious dashboard sessions into one-line requests. "Disable every link pointing at my old domain." "How did my page perform last week compared to the week before?" "Copy my main link, then point the copy at the promo page." The assistant calls the right operations in order and reports back.

The connection uses OAuth, the same mechanism behind "Sign in with Google". You approve access once with your GetMySocial login, you can see every connected app in your dashboard, and you can revoke any of them instantly. Your password is never shared with the AI.

Connect Claude in one click

    Open the API tab in your dashboard

    Go to Dashboard, then the API section, and scroll past your API keys to the "Connect to AI clients" panel below them.

    Click Connect for Claude

    The button opens Claude with the GetMySocial connector pre-filled. Connections sync to Claude Desktop on their own.

    Sign in and approve

    A GetMySocial consent screen asks you to confirm access. Approve it once and you are done.

    Start asking

    Try "list my links" as a first prompt. If the assistant answers with your actual links, everything works.

Using ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code or Claude Code instead

ChatGPT: open Settings, then Apps & Connectors, then Advanced settings, and enable Developer mode. Create a new connector, paste https://mcp.getmysocial.com/mcp as the URL, choose OAuth as the authentication method and sign in with your GetMySocial account. ChatGPT requires a paid plan for connectors.

Cursor and VS Code: use the one-click Connect buttons in the same dashboard panel. Both open your editor with the connector pre-configured, and OAuth sign-in happens on first use.

Claude Code: copy the ready-made command from the dashboard panel, run it in your terminal, then run /mcp to authenticate.

Any client that takes a bearer header can use an API key instead of OAuth. The dashboard panel generates that config for you: keep its "type": "http" field when you paste it, because Claude Code rejects an entry without it. The Claude app has no header field, so use the Connect button there.

Migrations and deletions ask for confirmation or run as previews first, so a mistyped prompt does not torch your account.

Good habits for AI-managed links

  • Preview every bulk change

    Look at the migration list before applying it. The tool starts in preview mode for exactly this reason.

  • Review Connected apps occasionally

    The dashboard lists every app with access. Disconnect anything you stopped using.

  • Be specific about scope

    "Disable the three test links from yesterday" beats "clean up my links". Precise prompts get precise actions.

  • Ask for a copy in two steps

    Duplicating a link copies its configuration under a new shortcode, then a second update points the copy somewhere else. Say both parts in the prompt so the assistant does not stop halfway.

  • Use it for reporting rhythm

    A weekly "summarize my page performance" prompt replaces a dashboard session.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an API key to connect Claude or ChatGPT?

No. The connector uses OAuth: you sign in with your GetMySocial account and approve access once. An API key remains available as a fallback for clients that do not support OAuth.

Which plan do I need?

AI connections use the same access level as the public API, which is included in the Agency plan. You can browse the setup screens on any plan.

What exactly can a connected assistant access?

Your links, groups and analytics on GetMySocial, through a scoped set of tools. It cannot touch your password, billing or anything outside your account, and you can revoke access instantly from Connected apps.

Can the assistant upload images to my links?

Not over the AI connection. Set images in the dashboard, or duplicate an existing link that already carries them, and the copy keeps the files. Everything else works conversationally.

Which assistants are supported?

Claude (including Claude Desktop), ChatGPT with Developer mode on a paid plan, Cursor, VS Code and Claude Code. Any client that speaks MCP with OAuth can connect using the same URL.
